Runway Review: Charlotte Olympia Spring 2017 RTW

If Miss Chiquita’s fruit hat came to life, it would be surely close to Charlotte Olympia’s Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear show. The British Fashion Awards recipient mamboed London Fashion Week with utter 1930’s decadence. Her unequivocal approach to the 30’s and 40’s was apparent as front knot turbans, floppy brimmed sun hats, and embroidered fruit picnic baskets dazzled across the runway. An extravagance of long hemlines, simple silhouettes, and fruitful accessories including the iconic havana-esque Island platform, brought a nostalgic appreciation to the classical glamour of old Hollywood.

The brand’s design philosophy of creating luxurious, feminine shoes with a sense of humor was undoubtedly present. Models put their best foot forward with monstera leaf inspired loafers, ankle strap peep stilettos, similar to the dainty Evelyn, and embellished fruit platforms like the mile high wedge platform Merylin. As fruit wasn’t already sexy for it’s life saving benefactors, the vitamin packed food group is making a comeback for all fashion and health aficionados alike.

Without further ado, the Runway Regime’s Fashion Editor in Chief presents her top looks from the theatrical soiree.
